I've found myself handing out this tip half a dozen times in the past two weeks. Time I shared it on Salubrious Life.
It's about eating Oats. Now we know that eating whole grain oats is good for us. Steel cut oats even better for their fiber and the way they cleanse. [Steel-Cut Oats are whole grain oats (the inner portion of the oat kernel) which have been cut into only two or three pieces. They are golden in colour and resemble mini rice particles.]
But who wants to prepare this feast on a daily or even thrice weekly basis? You can't pull this kind of nutrition out of a package and add hot water........this stuff has got to cook the old fashioned way.
I experimented a year or so ago with my rice cooker (Japanese friends, hide your eyes) Yes, I used a rice cooker for something other than Nishiki rice. The benefits of this method were immediate.
Easily made, easily kept (you can store excess for the next day in fridge) no mess, no need to eat it right away.
I'll go to my morning Bikram class, put the rice cooker on when I get home. Grab my shower and by the time I'm done....so are the oats.
